בין רמת הנגב לקהילה היהודית של לאס וגאס נבנה לאורך השנים קשר חם ועמוק, המבוסס על מחויבות הדדית ורצון כן לחיבור אנושי וקהילתי. קשר זה צמח מתוך שותפויות אישיות ומקצועיות, והלך והעמיק משנה לשנה.

לצד הקשרים האישיים והמשפחתיים, מתקיים גם קשר מחייב ומתמשך עם הפדרציה היהודית של לאס וגאס, בהובלתה של סטפני טוזמן, אשר מלווה את השותפות לאורך השנים ותורמת תרומה משמעותית לחיזוקה, להעמקתה ולהמשכיותה.

The Special Connection Between Ramat HaNegev and the Jewish Community of Las Vegas

Over the years, a warm and deep relationship has been built between Ramat HaNegev and the Jewish community of Las Vegas, grounded in mutual commitment and a sincere desire for human and communal connection. This relationship grew personal and professional partnerships and has continued to deepen year after year.

Alongside the personal and family connections, there is also a strong and ongoing partnership with the Jewish Federation of Las Vegas, led by Stefanie Tuzman, which has accompanied this collaboration over the years and has made a significant contribution to its strength, depth, and continuity.

משפחת דיוויס

הקשר המיוחד החל בשנת 2011, כאשר משפחת דיוויס, לורנס, ג’ואן והולי, פתחה דלת חדשה עבור רמת הנגב והציעה להקים תכנית מלגות לסטודנטים בני האזור. בזכות תמיכת המשפחה נוצרה תשתית עמוקה ומשמעותית המאפשרת לצעירי המועצה לרכוש השכלה אקדמית ולהעמיק את תרומתם לקהילה.

משפחת דיוויס תומכת גם בהקמת מבנה הנגרות החדש בתיכון האזורי, מרחב ייעודי ומקצועי שנועד לשרת מאות נערים ונערות בפעילות יצירתית ומעשית. המבנה יכלול סטודיו לנגרות, סטודיו לריתוך, מטבחון, מחסן ופינת ישיבה חיצונית, ויהפוך למרחב משמעותי להתפתחות אישית וחברתית של בני הנוער. לצד המבנה הפיזי, המשפחה מאפשרת גם את המשך הפעילות החינוכית בסדנת הנגרות עצמה, מתוך אמונה בכוחה של מלאכה מעצימה לבנות ביטחון עצמי, אחריות ותחושת מסוגלות.

לאחרונה הלכה לעולמה ג’ואן דיוויס, אם המשפחה ונקודת אור בחיינו. רמת הנגב תוקיר לעד את זכרה ואת תרומתה.

The Davis Family

This special connection began in 2011, when the Davis family, Laurence, Joan, and Holly, opened a new door for Ramat HaNegev by proposing the establishment of a scholarship program for students from the region. Thanks to the family’s support, a deep and meaningful foundation was created, enabling young people in the council to pursue academic studies and strengthen their contribution to the community.

The Davis family also supports the establishment of the new woodworking facility at the regional high school, a dedicated and professional space designed to serve hundreds of teenagers through creative, hands-on activity. The building will include a woodworking studio, a welding studio, a kitchenette, storage space, and an outdoor seating area, and will become a significant environment for the personal and social development of youth. Alongside the physical structure, the family also enables the continuation of the educational woodworking program itself, based on the belief in the empowering value of craftsmanship in building self-confidence, responsibility, and a sense of capability.

Recently, Joan Davis, the matriarch of the family and bright spot in our lives, passed away. Ramat HaNegev will forever honor her memory and her contribution.

סמנתה ברקול ג’ונסון וסקוט ג’ונסון, יחד עם בנם אמט, הם חלק חשוב ממעגל השותפות עם קהילת לאס וגאס. המשפחה תומכת בהקמת מבנה הנגרות החדש במתחם התיכון האזורי. תרומה זו מאפשרת יצירת מרחב חינוכי ובטוח שבו בני הנוער יכולים לרכוש מיומנויות ולהתפתח הן ברמה האישית והן ברמה החברתית.
המבנה יכלול חללים ייעודיים לנגרות ולריתוך, אזור עבודה, מטבחון ופינת ישיבה מזמינה שתשמש כמקום מפגש קהילתי עבור הדור הצעיר.

בנוסף, משפחת ג’ונסון תומכת בימים אלו במשפחות חיילי המילואים המשרתים בבסיס חיל האוויר, באמצעות פיתוח והקמה של גינה קהילתית.

The Johnson Family

Samantha Berkule Johnson and Scott Johnson, along with their son Emmett, are an important part of the circle of partnership with the Las Vegas community. The family supports the establishment of the new woodworking facility within the regional high school campus. This contribution enables the creation of a safe and educational space where young people can build skills and grow both personally and socially: The facility will include designated spaces for woodworking and welding, a work area, a kitchenette, and a welcoming seating area that will serve as a community gathering place for the younger generation.

In addition, the Johnson family is currently supporting families of reserve soldiers serving at the Air Force base through the development of a community garden

סוזן בכמן

לסוזן בכמן תפקיד משמעותי ועמוק בקשר בין רמת הנגב לקהילה היהודית של לאס וגאס. בזכות תמיכתה לאורך העשור האחרון התקיימו חילופי משלחות של צעירים ומנהיגות קהילתית בין שתי הקהילות, אשר יצרו קשרים אישיים אמיתיים, שיח פתוח ולמידה הדדית חוצת יבשות. בזכות השותפות עם סוזן התאפשרו גם יוזמות קהילתיות מרכזיות, ובהן הקמת בית הספר הראשון לחינוך מיוחד ברמת הנגב, אבן דרך חשובה שיצרה מסגרת חינוכית מקצועית, בטוחה ומכילה לילדים עם צרכים מיוחדים באזור, ואפשרה למשפחות להישאר בקהילותיהן ולקבל מענה מותאם קרוב לבית.

בנוסף, תמיכתה של סוזן אפשרה פיתוח והפעלה של תכניות העשרה משמעותיות לגיל הרך. השותפות עמה מאפשרת קיום מערך מקצועי של ליווי, הדרכה ותוכן במסגרות הגיל הרך, הכולל פעילות מוזיקלית ותנועתית, פיתוח שפה ותקשורת, תמיכה רגשית, יצירה וחקר, וכן סדנאות מקצועיות לצוותי החינוך. הודות לכך ילדים צעירים בכל יישובי רמת הנגב נהנים מסביבה מטפחת, יציבה ומגוונת, המעניקה להם התחלה טובה ומשמעותית לחיים.

Susan Bachman plays a significant and deeply meaningful role in the connection between Ramat HaNegev and the Jewish community of Las Vegas. Thanks to her support over the past decade, exchanges of youth and community leadership delegations between the two communities have taken place, fostering genuine relationships, open dialogue, and shared learning across continents.

Through her partnership, key community initiatives have also been made possible, including the establishment of Ramat HaNegev’s first special education school, a milestone that created a safe, professional, and inclusive educational framework for children with special needs within the region, allowing families to remain in their communities and receive appropriate support close to home.

In addition, Susan’s support has enabled impactful early childhood enrichment programs. Her partnership allows for the operation of a professional framework for guidance, training, and content in early childhood settings, including musical and movement activities, language and communication development, emotional support, creative exploration, and professional workshops for educational teams. As a result, young children across all communities in Ramat HaNegev benefit from a nurturing, stable, and diverse environment that truly gives them a strong start in life.

משפחת פרנקוף

לורי וריצ'רד פרנקוף הם חלק חשוב מהמעגל התומך ברמת הנגב. בזכותם מתאפשר פרויקט שביל הלוחמים ברתמים, מסלול נגיש שמחבר בין חלקי היישוב ומאפשר הליכה נוחה לכל התושבים, כולל לוחמים פצועים אשר שבו משירות מילואים בן מאות ימים, המתניידים בכיסאות גלגלים. השביל יכלול אזורי ישיבה ושטחים ציבוריים ויהווה מחווה של כבוד ואחדות לקהילה כולה.

Ron and Judy Mack have accompanied Ramat HaNegev for many years with deep and thoughtful support for educational and settlement initiatives.
Their contribution has helped expand young communities, develop educational institutions, and strengthen the roots of new families in the Negev.

The memory of Judy, who passed away in 2021, remains with us as we continue to honor and appreciate her meaningful contribution to shaping the region.
